Kunena 1.5.12 Maintenance Release
The Kunena Team announces the immediate availability of Kunena 1.5.12. This is a maintenance release and all users are recommended to upgrade.
Kunena 1.5.12 fixes various issues reported by users and moderators recent months as well as a number of older issues. These include:
• Fixed duplicate language strings
• Minor router improvements
• Fixed minor category bug
• Corrected administrator vs. moderator permissions & email notifications
• Small cosmetic fixes
Due to an overwhelming number of requests, we've added a few new features in this release:
• The ability to show or hide file attachments from guests
• A number of BBcode tags have been back-ported from Kunena 1.6
• Long URLs in BBcode img/links
• Anonymous posting
• Improved category manager
• The option to hide the user list on the frontend
Also, a number of administrator features have been added and made more usable.

Compatibility with Third-party Kunena Templates
As a general rule, many templates designed for previous versions of Kunena should work in Kunena 1.5.12 but this is only true to a limited extent. In general, many older templates may fail to work with Kunena in unpredictable ways. Because of the way that Kunena 1.5 is designed, many bug fixes and improvements made to the Kunena component affect the way templates interact and, more importantly, older templates may have code that is incompatible with the latest version. You should upgrade your template when new versions are released and apply bugfixes incorporated with latest default_ex theme.
Please make sure your template works in a test environment before upgrading your live site!
Compatibility with Third-party Kunena Modules
Most Kunena modules verified to work with Kunena 1.5 should work after upgrading to Kunena 1.5.12. If you use third-party Kunena modules, you should test them with the new Kunena version before upgrading your live site.
Installing or Upgrading Kunena
Be sure your setup matches the minimum Technical Requirements or the install/upgrade process will fail. If it fails, your data will be left untouched.
To install Kunena, make sure you read our Installation Instructions before beginning. To upgrade Kunena from previous versions (including FireBoard), make sure you read the Upgrade Instructions.
The Kunena installer has evolved, been tested, and handles both installs as well as upgrades of existing installs without the need for user intervention or manual SQL execution. It keeps a detailed history log of all versions that have been installed on your site in order to be able to perform incremental upgrades as necessary.
We would like to underscore the importance of backups before and after any upgrade process. Never perform an install or upgrade without a full backup.
