Installation Instructions
From Kunena
Installing software on a live website is not something to be undertaken lightly, so please read the Installation Instructions carefully. Before starting a install of Kunena, check that your host meet the Technical_Requirements.

The overall procedure is:
- Download the correct package from the JoomlaCode for Kunena.
- Make a backup copy of your live site (important)
- Install the new Kunena Forum version
- Create a menu link in you main menu (important)
- Make it available to your special users
- Check your live site to make sure it is working correctly
- Make it available to all users
- Backup your live site again (important)
Please read the full instructions, listed below, carefully. If you have any questions before, during, or after the installation, then please ask them on the appropriate forum.
Quick Install
If your installation meets the following conditions, then you can follow the quick install instructions below.
- You are not running a prior version of Fireboard or Kunena
- You have only English installed
- You have no other components installed which you wish to integrate with Kunena, that you have not upgraded to versions compatible with Kunena
- You have a recent backup of your Joomla files
- You have a recent backup of your Mysql database
If you meet all of the above conditions, you can complete the install as follows:
- Using the Joomla installer, install Kunena, by entering the URL into the URL field in the installer (recommended), or optionally, uploading the component package file
- Using the Joomla administrator, access the Kunena Configuration pages from the components menu, and review default settings
- Using the Joomla administrator, access the Kunena Configuration pages from the components menu, and create or rename forums as needed. Sample forums will already be present for testing.
- Using the Joomla administrator, create a menu item(s) for Kunena, in a menu accessible to front-end users. You may wish to restrict access to special users while testing
- Test the site and make the menu item available to all users
